You may need to put them all on the same line, i.e.,

0.0.0.0	badsite.com www.badsite.com morejunk.com

This is a cheap trick you might try:

Edit your "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file.  Normally it
contains several lines of comments and a single useful entry:

127.0.0.1	localhost

Try adding a line like so:

0.0.0.0 	google-analytics.com

This will effectively block connections to "google-analytics.com" for you.
The same trick can be used on other addresses as well, though to block a
website you may require an extra entry:

0.0.0.0	badsite.com
0.0.0.0	www.badsite.com
