The Ampliphase design was still being debugged in the 50G era,
although McClatchy had a home-brew 50 kW at KFBK and a home-brew 5 kW
at KOH.

The two other McClatchy stations, KBEE and KMJ, didn't have home-brew
Ampliphases. KBEE was 1/1 and KMJ was 5/5. An Ampliphase would make
no sense at KBEE, but would at KMJ.

The 50H introduced the solid state exciter, and I would expect the 5
and 10 Ampliphases used this exciter.

Strange that McClatchy successfully implemented Cheriex's outphasing
concept (later to be called Ampliphase by RCA) at both the 50 and 5
levels (KOH was then 5 day and 1 night, and it still is), but it took
RCA so very long to make the Ampliphase a success at 50, much less a
success at 5 or 10.

Such is the strange way things sometimes work out.
