The SLC-1 has not been supported by the original manufacturer in
many years. It is an integral part of the Sunwatch system and is
difficult to troubleshoot on the bench due to its integration with the
System Controller board in the SX transmitter. A remote control
or external relay will not have the same integrated features as
Sunwatch. For example, the AC power fails one minute prior to a
power change. Sunwatch will 'wake up' at the correct power. A
relay closure would happen when the power is out. The SX will
not 'wake up' with the correct power.

>From experience, here are common problems with the SLC-1.
By far, most are power supply related. Replace all the caps, or
install a new supply which is commonly available. The next failures
are with the CD4536 chip nearest the small crystal/front panel toggle
switches. Also the 74C08, 74LS74AN in line with the crystals and
the 6502AP chip. Be sure to press the Reset button on both System
Controllers after installing the SLC-1 just to be sure it integrates
properly. You can also use an RS-232 tester to see if the clock is
pulsing.
