[EAS] The broken EAS system

FWIW.....Here's my take on ALL this.....
Regardless of how well carefully- scheduled tests and plans of action are implemented.....when "--it" hits the fan, there's going to be...
CHAOS!!
People are NOT going to say: "hey, let's listen to the radio/monitor EAS/local law enforcement/government to see what to do....."
They're going to pack up what they can, get the family together....and MOVE!!!
Where? Anywhere but where they are NOW --- if they're in a dangerous area (fire, flood, nuclear fallout).....
Will your neighbors take you in, if THEY are already on the move --- OUT???!!
All the talk of beefed-up AM transmitter sites, emergency agency coordination, EAS alerts, etc., etc. --will be for naught...
In a REAL disaster ----like World War III --- it'll be every man (woman and child) for himself!!
Also, re: AM radio ....IIRC, one of the things the early Conelrad tests brought to the forefront was....if there is radioactive contamination of the atmosphere,
the AM broadcast band would be virtually wiped out, especially in the hinterlands.
Is it really wise to invest big $$ in structures that could well be rendered useless when they are counted upon the most??
Those who may scoff at my treatise.....Let's just hope it NEVER ---EVER has to be put to the REAL TEST!!:(
