[EAS] EAN redux - FEMA

As far as I've seen, the chatter has been aspirational or delusional.
Nearly all of the chatter has technical misunderstandings of the
procedures.

Considering only the technical issue of a rogue EAN, and not the
associated legal or political issues; DASDEC, Sage and Trilithic have
procedures to abort (cancel) rogue EAN messages and correctly restore
downstream EAS daisy-chain stations. Please see their respective manuals
for the procedure. It is deliberately more difficult to abort an EAN,
but all manufacturers have a documented procedure.

You should NOT unplug your EAS box or audio cables. If you choose, for
whatever reason, to abort (cancel) an EAN, your EAS box still MUST
transmit the End-Of-Message (EOM) codes.

State and Local Primary stations should also transmit a RWT immediately
after an EAN message abort (cancel) to help clear any downstream hanging
stations.

Again, the chatter is full of technical errors and seems to aspirational
or delusional. But being prepared doesn't hurt. For grins, North Korea
decided to hold a military parade on Sunday.
