I agree. As a cold-war era child, i have to wonder if dependence or relying so much on satellites for broad-based national alerts is wise.
Enemies could have communication birds essential for reaching the public targeted for early destruction.
Some other not-adversarial issue could cripple a necessary orbiting link.
At one time, we looked at news wire services for alerts and test messages AP is now VSAT based. It used to be wired. And there used to be more than one news wire service commonly found in radio and TV stations .
What are plans B, C and D for getting a Presidential message to the PEPs,and on to the US population?
What terrestrial means are likely components? With fiber connections in place?
