Love your response, Dave -

For some reason - Bling and Fragile too often mean the same thing.

Re. the 2001 Nisqually Quake - I was at the KIRO-TV Transmitter Site in
Seattle rolling a large transformer across the floor when it started.
During that event even land-lines were useless for the simple reason that
Telco's employ something called a 'Concentration Ratio'
Those systems are not designed for 'everyone' to be off-hook at the same
time. Cellular system are designed the same way.

Where are you located now?

Which is why I still keep a couple of the old analog dial phones (and an old
TELCO "buttset") in the basement, and I know how to connect/use them.
Following the earthquake in Olympia, WA in 2001, we were able to talk to our
son once via (his) cellphone. It was a week or so later before he could make
another call that would go through. All channels were either busy or taken
by emergency services. Cellphones are "neat", but very fragile.

Dave
