[EAS] Questionable EAS Activation

All--
Thank you for your suggestions and support. Most, but not all, our
broadcasters did not carry the activation because they've removed the rural
counties from their EAS equipment programming, for reasons which have become
obvious in recent weeks. Our state Division of Emergency Management is
reminding city and county emergency officials about the proper use of EAS
and additional training in the Nevada EAS Plan is being conducted.

The local FCC Bureau advises that broadcasters who did receive and
rebroadcast the May 13th activation file a "false EAS activation" report.
Rather than make a judgement about the activation, the FCC says it should be
left up to the PSHSB to investigate and decide what action to take. At least
one report was filed before the 24-hour deadline.

Hopefully, Rod is right and there will be some huffing and puffing and an
improvement in understanding of EAS. And yes, to whoever asked, I have the
audio. The quality is very good. It will be on the agenda for the next
Western States EAS Summit.

...It would be the same as sending out any other short fuse event emergency
