[EAS] Of Monkeys and Messages

Ah, but what a grand rant it was. :-)

I'm beginning to wonder if the E.M.s would even notice if we all stopped carrying their EAS alerts?
For broadcasters, it seems that EAS is a big deal, but is that just because the FCC dedicated an entire section of rules to it?
Would it have seemed as big of a deal if it remained under part 73 like it was with EBS?
Suppose then we only carry what's required in part 11?
Suppose these monkeys fold up the circus tent and go home?
Will anyone notice? Will anyone care? Will anyone complain?
In the alerting tool box do the E.M.s know why they would want to also have a box cutter (EAS) when they already have a Swiss Army Knife (WEA)?
