[EAS] Tweet by Jon Levine on Twitter

I love the not so smart one who had the nerve to reply to the tweet with: "I don't necessarily agree here. It's 2019, we don't need a weatherman on TV to tell us the weather. Nothing against meteorologists but most people have phones and get updates on dangerous weather." Oh, if that person only knew. Cell towers can go down or not deliver service in such conditions. And the inaccuracy once one cell tower does go down in detecting one's position is severe. Not to mention that if you happen to be the last person (the 1 to 1 delivery system of a cell tower with messaging) the tower is going to contact to tell you that you are about to be wiped out by a tornado. Television with its one to many is such a more robust delivery system for emergency messaging. But I preaching to the choir here and the masses of ignorant "Smart Phone" users will never understand how vulnerable they are without television and radio.

Interrupting "The Bachelorette" was probably one of the best things they could have done to boost the drama for that show.
