[EAS] FW: False tsunami alarm - analysis of more than one event

Rich - this is from Rob Dale, in a mirror discussion on another list.  This might clarify things a bit on the inadvertent tsunami alert from last week.

All feeds received a corrupt product as the NWS chopped it off before disseminating to the world. The VTEC line was cut off before the /T was transmitted. It has happened before but NWS doesn't consider this an error (I'm not sure why.)

 

If you go through the previous products in this link you'll see it is a regular occurrence. I'm not sure why this one was picked up and others weren't, but clearly the truncated products do not help the cause.
