I am going to disagree with Mike on this one. Section 73.1820 is clear that logs can be kept automatically. Also, there is NO requirement for a weekly log entry. Section 11.35 states that "Appropriate entries indicating reasons why any tests were not received must be made in the broadcast station log as specified in §§73.1820 and 73.1840 of this chapter." but if every thing is OK with weekly or monthly tests there would no requirement for a manual entry or addition to the electronically stored log in the decoder.
If you feel a need to fill up a file cabinet --now that the public inspection files are going on line, you could print out the EAS logs once a month as a back-up to the decoder's logs. I attach a cover page indicating when the RMT was received & source, as well as any notes when it doesn't come through.
On Rod's comment about tests from adjacent states... My systems are programmed for counties in both Ohio and W.V. since we are right on the border. I live in Ohio, if I walk to the end of my street & put a toe in the Ohio River--I'm in West Virginia. WOVK Wheeling runs RMT's for both Ohio and WV (that's the FM for 50 kw clear WWVA--so you can see the logic). So the Ohio RMT's regularly show up on the log--but the Sage is programmed to ignore them. We do get--and relay the important messages--from Ohio since both WOVK and local WXIL monitor Ohio sources; while the Charleston,WV NWS covers Washington County Ohio.
