[EAS] Humans thwart disaster alerts

Front page headline, San Francisco Chronicle, Friday September 29.

It is not on the SF Gate website (  http://www.sfgate.com/  ) yet but 
important reading for all.  When I can find the URL to the article 
I'll post it.  Probably Monday.

IMHO we spend a lot of time debating technical fine points on this 
list but 99 point lots of nines percent of the time the issues are 
PEOPLE.  Some of the problems are at the origination end but most of 
the problem is at the receiving end.

For example, I once heard that there is reluctance to send out a 
tsunami alert because some people would dash to the beach to 
watch.  My response is that this falls into the category of 
Retroactive Birth Control.  Weed out the dumb ones before they breed . . .
