[EAS] [BC] What's the point of LP-1s anymore?

There is always a way. In NYC after 9/11 stations without news rooms patched in TV stations that did have the resources and ran with that for a number of days. No EAS was ever activated. More recently in Houston I monitored a number of stations there. While EAS was used, one station I monitored that basically locked their doors, ran automation and let EAS Take over. It was unlistenable as the interruptions were constant. By contrast CBS Houston ran excellent coverage without EAS. They had one station doing breaking events but without the farts, one station in Spanish and the rest doing an all news like format covering other storm related events. In all, excellent coverage and public service.
