Not so much...
On the other hand, we're still dealing with emergency managers, public
safety and law enforcement people who DON'T want "the media" to know that
there is a problem--what I call the "Mayor Vaughn Syndrome--and they don't
know the difference between "the media" and EAS. The problem is not that
officials don't see broadcasters as reliable local partners, it's that they
see us as jackals waiting to feed on the remains of the (poor) local
official who got trapped into a door-knock interview.
Fortunately, CAP EAS reaches all EAS Participants. Unfortunately, the time
is quickly passing when stations will have the local resources to provide
the needed follow-up information to an EAS activation and continuing
coverage of an emergency or disaster. Officials from the smallest community
to the Feds all seem to think that "Social Media" will be there to keep
people up to date. No one seems to realize that disasters like fires,
hurricanes and earthquakes will take out large sections of the "critical
infrastructure", including the Internet and it won't be back for weeks or
months. AT&T lost multiple cell towers in our wildland fires this summer and
there are still areas here in Northern Nevada where there is no AT&T
service, kinda like Puerto Rico...

broadcasters are no longer seen as reliable local partners. That's why I
