[EAS] Blue Alerts Are Back

Really?  What about the National Blue Alert Act of 2015?  Signed into law by
Obama in May 2015.  Certainly sounds like a Federal Law to me ...

True, this law does not specify or even mention EAS, per se.

SEC. 3. BLUE ALERT COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.
The Attorney General shall establish a national Blue Alert
communications network within the Department of Justice to issue
Blue Alerts through the initiation, facilitation, and promotion of
Blue Alert plans, in coordination with States, units of local government,
law enforcement agencies, and other appropriate entities.

So, the FCC initiative on Blue Alerts can be seen as an extension of the
above, in coordination with the FCC.

Not at the federal level. However, many states have enacted state statutes
which include handling of such conditions.  Many however do not advocate the
use of EAS for this matter.  I agree.
