Yes, fostering an appreciation of the total target population is a good idea, especially as we're always counting on word-of-mouth (including social media) and pass-along by the direct recipients to flesh out propagation within the target community.  That indirect "fan out" audience is especially important in non-English speaking communities, where we tend to rely heavily on the kids and community leaders to spread the word.
