While the abort option is a part of the RMT, I do not include it in the steps to relay an RMT that I have hanging on the rack by the ENDEC.
My instructions are basically: Push this ^ button, then push this ^ button, then push this ^ button.
It could be aborted accidentally, if the operator isn't careful.
And if that were to happen, it would be logged as a failed test, but weeks of mind-numbing re-training would ensue for all involved.
Mostly, our operators just let the RMT time out anyway. It's on a short fuse here in Nebraska, "must be relayed within 15 minutes."
