Already exists. Stations can purchase commercial weather services from
several commercial weather providers. Most stations with full-time
metrologists on-staff have a system that generates extensive weather
graphics, puts weather alerts on the air, and so on.
Money, money, money.
Stations that want it pay a lot more for commercial services than they
pay for EAS boxes, plus monthly service fees.
EAS is just a cheap version of a news wire service without a sales or
marketing department.
