It is extremely rare across the entire country to identify an elected
official by name in the required monthly message. Several state
and local EAS areas identify the agency, but the announcer doesn't
identify themselves by name. I have never heard another EAS area
in the entire country which identifies an elected official by name
each month, but maybe there are some.

You don't hear Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, NOAA Administrator identifying
herself and voicing the weekly National Weather Service test. None of
the national tests by FEMA have used the voice of an elected official,
although it intended to be used by the President in an actual emergency.

I understand you wrote the script many years ago. But step back and
listen to it now. The Los Angeles monthly test tends to sound like a
political ad every month... "I'm a politician, and I approved this
message." Maybe folks in Los Angeles are used to it.

Maybe its just because in the rest of the country, we hear the LA Sheriff
identify himself by name every month on satellite TV, but don't hear any
other elected officials on monthly tests on our local radio or TV outlets.

I don't currently subscribe to satellite TV, so I haven't heard the Los
Angeles monthly test in a while. I don't know how the satellite provider
uplink gets its monthly feed from the LA sheriff or LP stations.

I'm glad to hear the sheriff's office has been improving its
communications systems.
