Yes, Sage added an auto filter feature to the 89-30 release, to help
make sure that as many stations as possible aired the alert, even if
they accidentally had NPT in the wrong filter, or had it marked log
only, or didn't have a filter at all. I believe this contributed to
yesterday's high relay rate.
Since, for most stations, the "right" setting for NPT action is
Automatic Relay, that is what our internal filter was set to. For
some special cases, as Dave points out, timed relay is a better choice.
For a future release, we will implement an "ignore auto filter"
feature. If marked as ignore, only the user's explicitly defined
filters will be used. The Verify Req button will show which filter
(if any) will match NPT and EAN. Our recommendation will be to NOT
check the "ignore auto filter" box.
The "better audio from CAP" issue will also be addressed if the FCC
moves to a "check for CAP first" scheme. The various attempts to
improve the chances of getting a CAP message first will then be unnecessary.
