Paul,
Yes, we need an easier way to show you what time the ENDEC thinks it
is. I've added that to the list.
The interface to ENDEC is mainly polling, however, the time display
won't be precise. Likewise, setting the time from the web interface
won't be precise either, but it could get you to within a few seconds.
The right way, of course, is to use NTP on the ENDEC. As a possibly
humorous aside, in the last few days I've set a personal record for
typing NPT and NTP, with possibly only a 90% success rate in using
the right one.
We will probably not allow for setting the time via the web page, but
will come up with a better way to display it.
As a workaround to your request, you can get the ENDEC will show the
time now (or near now) on some of its pages.
On the tools page, click the IPAWS button under stats. It will show
something like this:
IPAWS Status at Thu Sep 29 08:58:56 2016, 12:58:56 2016 (UTC)
which will be the time at the last status update, which is
approximately the poll rate. This shows local and UTC time, and can
be used to make sure you have your UTC offset set correctly.
You can also use the network diag button on the home page. After
about 8 seconds, you get a display that includes the time that you
clicked the network diag button, in UTC. That page also includes a
line that shows if NTP is synced. Look for stratum=n, where n is
probably 2 or 3, or maybe 4, depending on what you are using for an
NTP server. If it says stratum=16, you have a problem, contact us
and we can help you.
