[EAS] How are you planning to broadcast the September 28 National EAS Test?

For Reid and George:

While we plan to originate the NPT test message at precisely 14:20 EDT on the 29th it will be very difficult, if not impossible to determine precisely when your EAS device will be ready to forward the message. That's because each EAS device polls the IPAWS EAS Atom Feed independently on the average of once every thirty seconds. If your box polls IPAWS immediately after we post the NPT message it could be available as soon as 14:20:17 if not slightly sooner. On the other hand if you happen to poll immediately BEFORE we post the message or if it does not pull the message the first time it polls it could take longer and the EAS box may pick up the alert over the air from a Local Primary first.

I do not recommend attempting to precisely back time programming to NPT for that reason. It will be a pretty crude cold cut to the "Brapp, Brapp, Brapp" anyway. That's just the way it works.

(Sorry about the delayed response, for some reason the original conversation thread got hung up in my Inbox.)
