"round these parts, the weather spotters report in to someone at NWS.
A bit of filtering then happens.
It takes two independent spotter reports from known reliable spotters to confirm and sound sirens.
(Not everyone that spots is reliable.)
But yeah. That seems extreme.
Was it just the siren in your area?
Could you hear other distant sirens, if there are any.
I used to be involved in the annual siren testing.
Out of 60+ sirens, four or five might not fire off on the first try.
One or two then didn't go on try # 2 either.
Kind of like EAS. That's why we test.
