The issue is that already broadcasters have become frustrated with the
volume/frequency of EAS messages from NWS and have elected to disconnect NWR
from their EAS Equipment...
All parties need to come to understand that licensees ARE (In some areas)
taking control of what their equipment does. The point that we need to
grasp is that the frequency of EAS messages on NWR has (in some areas)
increased to the point that broadcasters >> Who participate on a voluntary
basis << no longer wish to continue to do so.
I am trying to propose a solution to this issue that would provide
assurances to a reluctant broadcaster that they will be able to carry NWS
information - but not ALL the information that's be distributed.

We have the ability to do that today. All EAS boxes have filters which are
programmable. If a licensee doesn't like an optional event code and/or
counties, modify/disable/delete the filter.
Deleting event names/types is throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Licensees need to take more decided control of what their equipment does.
Not let someone else make the decision for them.
