I have always felt since day 0 some specific call to action messages
should be compulsory. And I was shouted down every time I brought up the
topic but at the formative stages as well in later proceedings. Mind you
I'm not talking about SVR's which come a dime a dozen in these parts.
I am resigned to the fact no event codes are gonna ever be compulsory
beyond EAN, EAT, RWT and NPT despite the reality that time saves lives.
Fortunately, I work for an owner who believes relaying critical life
saving messages are part of our responsability as broadcasters and I
consult others who likewise believe the same.
Under our current officially shut down state government (paying bills and
salaries only by federal court order), IEMA is on life support itself. I
am not looking forward to next spring...nor the remainder of this fall
where we can still see severe weather through Thanksgiving over any part
of the state.
