The big contradiction here is if the media is reporting this stuff over and
over in advance and people don't get it, how is it they will magically hear
the EAS alert?
EAS should not be used for events the media has been hyping, but rather for
short fuse events where there is little or no notice or where some
governmental entity like the NWS is aware of an impending danger.
If EAS is being mis-used in your area that should be a signal for YOU to get
involved in the process. If you sit back and leave these matters to
others, and they screw up...It's time to look in the mirror at one of the
problems. Hat to be that harsh, however, I have seen this happen time
and time again. The bottom line is that these problems can be
resolved....but it requires intervention and participation by everyone.
The more involved with this process, the better the outcome for everyone.
The EAS should be a - cooperative- process. SECC's and LECC's should be
the place where issues like these are sorted out.
That's the way is works here....Why should it be different anywhere else?
