[EAS] NWS/CG Interference in NY area

Perhaps it isn't RF interference at all. Most newer marine radios scan NWS channels and switch to NWS radio when they detect SAME encoded alerts. Anyone who hasn't read the user manual might assume there is radio interference when the radio that was receiving marine channel 16 is suddenly playing a weather warning. It is a user programmable function that can be turned off.

I have first hand experience with a Standard Horizon hand held marine radio that sounds off at full volume when the NWS sends an alert. It gets your attention very effectively, to put it nicely.
