[EAS] Another EAS tone set in a TV program

There's no disagreement Alan. The rules should be the same for everyone but
TWC and especially its tornado-chasing shows have been apparently been give
a pass when it comes to EAS activations. Neil Cavuto used the EAS tones last
month on one of his shows on Fox News. Now there's this report on tones
being used on an HLN show. My comment is that there seems to be two sets of
rules here, one for cable and one for the rest of us. The bizarre part is
that some of these shows migrate out of cable-world and end up being carried
on OTA stations. So far, no one's been cited or fined but when there's
finally a complaint the FCC will end up with a real mess on their hands. I
don't watch HLN and I'm not going to tune away from my usual shows and the
Olympics just to try to catch this latest transgression. I heartily agree
with you that Something should be done...

I would respectfully disagree. If Turner was subject to the rules with its
cable networks, I don't see how HLN or TWC would be exempt. (HLN, of course,
being another Turner network) The phrase, "No person shall transmit..." in
11.45 doesn't leave much wiggle room.
