Hi, Mike and everyone:

The broadcast impact of the Spring fire in Ventura County took out power at a couple of transmitter sites. At least two stations had emergency power and enough fuel for 3 days. One station I am involved with had Edison power restored by Friday.

Right now I am in Massachusetts visiting family for a few days. Back in CA Tuesday afternoon.

The online petition asking Congress to enact an overall public warning strategy that I started a week ago has met its first signature goal and is on its way to the second goal. A number of LECC, SECC and EM people have already signed it.

If you have not gone to the site, read the petition (and sign it if you agree) please do consider doing so.

FEMA just started an online collaborative idea tool for improvements to NIMS (National Incident Management System) that extends to our area, public warnings.

I have two postings on that site that I hope will help make the point that emergency public information should be treated as a response resource along with SWAT teams, fire strike teams, emergency food and water, etc. Pleas visit that site, register if you are not already registered, and weigh in. If you have your own ideas you want to float., this is the place to do it. FEMA used this tool effectively leading up to the national EAS test. Glad to see they are using it to improve NIMS.
