I would imagine you would need transformers to deal with unbalanced audio.  We use AES digital audio with our station so do not have that issue.

Audio levels are easy on the SAGE Model 3644 once you understand how to set them and with the newer versions of the firmware which makes setting audio levels easier.

Audio levels on the SAGE Model 1822 were harder.
