That is one solution but you might miss alerts that way.  SAGE fixed the issues we were having with losing the IPAWS messages after the IPAWS server goes down.  At least for most of those who updated to their latest version of firmware.

Hopefully if you contact DASDEC they will work this out.  They need to know you are having these issues.  Hopefully they have a technical support website or good phone support line.
