Lowell brings a salient point about system overload when a linked URL is included.  I don't doubt systemic overload would occur in any of the major short fuse events.  Even in a rural area.  My comment was intended to create some thought as to what other options exist for further advisory beyond "Check Local Media" in a CMAS formatted message.

To wit: CMAS and EAS should be the fist pounding on the door (As opposed to politely ringing the bell).  The next necessary step is giving the public something to work with in that call to action message. This is where CAP comes into play...at least for EAS.  What about CAP on CMAS?  
Just thinking aloud you know....
