We have a 450 gallon day tank under the genny as our main tank. Direct 
siphon fuel supply.  As previously noted, that's as big of a tank the 
city will allow.

But I would agree that fuel pumps, fuel heaters and other mission 
critical operation sustaining devices be also on the generator.
