Greetings:

We have noticed a flurry of new subscriptions recently -- possibly due to our efforts to let the EAS user community express their experiences with the evolving picture of EAS, and learn from the postings of our fellow EAS clients. In the last day or so we have been posting news of the so-called "Zombie" message that was injected into a few EAS devices.

We have also posted the best information we have been able to gather on how best to defend against such incursions, and been active in passing that information along through all EAS information sources.

It all comes down to carrying out basic "safe internet" practices such as using strong passwords and assuring that all equipment (EAS, PC, and all else) are behind routers with good firewalls.

The purpose of the EAS Forum is to provide a level playing field for information exchange, education, and as a source for stakeholder input to BWWG FCC filings. The BWWG encourages all stakeholders, including manufacturers, law enforcement personnel, and emergency managers to participate fully in EAS Forum discussions.

To all our previous loyal subscribers, thanks for your support and postings that have enabled us to contribute to articles we have posted on the website and passed along to government agencies.

As we said in our most recent website posting, EAS is very much a work in progress.

Regards on behalf of the BWWG,
