[EAS] Two EAS decoders in series

This is SOP for the encoders.  Both units have a bypass function switch, you

Operate the one that is working.    In some of my installs we fed both of 
The encoders and switched the outputs based upon information from the 
'Monitor', thereby automating the process.  (Also tied this to a device that
Would send a message to engineers that it had switched.

I also noticed in the diagram that the two Arbitron encoders are in series.
I know nothing about how these devices work, so someone help me out.
If you have two Arbitron encoders in series does that double your Arbitron
numbers?
