[EAS] Two EAS decoders in series

Some months ago I posted a few suggestions on what to do with a surplus
legacy EAS decoder once the conversion to a CAP-capable unit took place.
Some ideas revolved around using two decoders in series, one after the
other. This would allow the number of monitored inputs to be increased,
with each monitored source having the potential to interrupt a broadcast
program stream and place a message on the air.

Some readers opined that you would cause timing problems with this
arrangement, but no clear description of the potential error was given.

PEP radio station WSM in Nashville recently celebrated the 80th
anniversary of it's famous Blaw-Knox transmission tower. During a public
open house, someone took several interesting photos of the facility. One
of the photos clearly shows a block diagram of the WSM audio path from
studio to antenna.

In it are two blocks marked "SAGE EAS WSM" and "SAGE EAS FEMA". Other
photographs show the familiar blue model 3644's in a rack.

Here is the link to the flickr site where the visitor's photos were
posted.
