Methinks you miss the point.

If it were about truly warning the public, or emergency preparedness, of course
it would have been used.....

But what if it were REALLY about the tax money provided to the government on the
purchase of the new equipment, shipment of the equipment, etc.... then the
government has clearly done well.  Just think of all the tax revenue garnished
by the gov based on this federally mandated roll out of equipment.

And if you think THAT got the congressional money hungry juices drooling - wait
'till all the TV stations have to change frequencies....

Taxes on new transmitter, combiner, and filter purchases, taxes on truck drivers
shipping those transmitters, on the fuel used to ship them, etc.  Plus the
equipment purchased by the broadband/phone companies that buy the new spectrum.
 The Fed is going to make HUGE bank! (And that isn't even including what they'll
get from the auctioned frequencies)
