Apologize for the double post, but I wanted to comment about Ray's configuration.

Ray, I'm not certain about the connectivity needed for your EAS appliances, but we have several that are running on an MPLS network that does not route to the Internet. We were able to use a proxy server to allow connectivity between the MPLS network and the public Internet to pull CAP. I installed Privoxy and dnsmasq on an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS virtual machine, and with about a half hour of basic configuration had CAP pulling from all of my MPLS connected EAS boxes.

Keep in mind that these are all DASDEC appliances, so we may have features that are unavailable to your appliances in regards to proxy support, so I can't comment if you're running a Sage appliance and it does not support accessing CAP through a proxy. With that said, if the ENDECs support working with a web proxy, this may be a way for you to sate the concerns of your IT department while still maintaining full compliance.
