I operate by the philosophy, a "what if..." question never asked is a 
possible solution never considered.  Those who know me well know I'm not 
afraid to ask questions if there is a real payoff to be gained.

I don't have the expertise to write code and as such won't go there... I 
also believe hacking and then modifying the firmware accordingly would 
violate the box's FCC's certification.  Non-starter for me.

And I don't like holding proverbial trump cards against folks without 
really good reason. Someday, I might on the receiving end and it had 
better be worth it n the first place to be in such a situation. I'd much 
rather be owed favors than owe them.  I've lived reasonably well and 
peacefully on those two philosophies.
