I concur with Suzanne - at this point, training (is the form of the IS-247
course) is part of the EMI Home Independent Study Program. EMI does focus
on NIMS-related curricula.
However, the IPAWS course (IS-247) does not appear on the NIMS curriculum
requirements (not for incident command, public information, or
communications & information management).
One of the challenges that might pop up in integrating IPAWS training into
NIMS, is that the NIMS curricula is targeted at general and command staff
(by and large) while (in some organizations) the specific EAS function may
fall at an organizational level below that echelon.

I don't know that it's accurate at this point to say that IPAWS training is
part of NIMS and therefore tied to reimbursement? Having FEMA wrap the
IPAWS training into NIMS is one element of the Collins IPAWS authorization
bill.

Also, I want to remind all those who deal with local EM that now that IPAWS
training and testing is part of NIMS, and NIMS compliance is required for
reimbursement from the Feds related to declared emergencies, more EM people
will either see the benefit of using EAS or be told by their managers that
they need to get involved to p[reserve reimbursement for their counties.
