Brian/Everyone:
According to the last CA SECC conference call with CalEMA, the State does intend to not only continue supporting EDIS and finish making it CAP compliant, but to also stand up a California CAP server.
We are having monthly conference calls with CalEMA and will advise everyone as soon as we know more. The SECC is working closely with the California Broadcasters Association (CBA) based in Sacramento on all this.
Also, I want to remind all those who deal with local EM that now that IPAWS training and testing is part of NIMS, and NIMS compliance is required for reimbursement from the Feds related to declared emergencies, more EM people will either see the benefit of using EAS or be told by their managers that they need to get involved to p[reserve reimbursement for their counties.
I will be speaking to a California regional EM group this week about all this and will write up a report on their reaction to changes to the EAS for the EAS Forum.
Regards,
Richard Rudman
CA SECC Vice Chair
