BWWG is actually a very small group of broadcasters, though this EAS listserv set up by BWWG is open and inclusive. The advisory committee that would be created by this bill would also be open and inclusive (in fact, it may include some people and entities that we'd rather keep out of the room!, but that's an argument for another day). And, for the record, I'm a registered lobbyist too. ;)

I would ask the senator revise the language ever so slightly on the
bill, instead of a committee (which wastes a lot of time and money)
that they instead work with the BWWG as the existing body much like
the NPRM process. IE, have the broadcasters themselves help implement
the rules instead of people who have no clue what we're talking about.
They could have an oversight committee however review the proposals,
but having a political body govern this system has already gotten us
in a bit of a mess. We're the ones who have to interact with the
system daily, not many others know the inner workings like we do. This
also would give the manufacturers a voice as well through the BWWG. In
other words, why reinvent the wheel here?

The EAS forum seems to have plenty of membership as a community who
already cares, and is an open forum to voice concerns and praise, not
to mention problem solving. My biggest worry about this is the lobby
system. Companies can lobby/throw money at them to change things to
get what they want, shifting it into their favor. Using the BWWG
however does not allow for that influence, IMO.

Thoughts?
