Hear hear!! And I add "... all manufactured FM demod chips will have mandatory SAME decoders built-in."
It seems a shame to put all the effort into broadcasting EAS alerts and still have no TV/AM/FM receivers to "open up" during an emergency. I seem to recall in all my NIMS training that an disaster emergency can happen anytime anywhere.
And yes I am aware the issues involved with the public being woken up in the middle of the night. If the system was designed and deployed correctly, then at least the proper area should be awakened and not the entire broadcast area. And I wish whoever says the cost of the receiver would increase to much, would state exactly how much and prove the public would not buy it.
