[EAS] Single point entry of CAP messages

The simple answer Jonathan...

Because the FCC says so.

More complicated answer...

You'll be subject to fines if you don't.

Not to make light of your concerns and questions, but as far as the  
FCC is concerned the discussion ended a while back.
It is now compliance time.
Yes you are preaching to the choir. Those who are on this list are  
here because they see EAS as being important.
My opinion has always been that technically the EAS worked fine. So  
did EBS. So did Conelrad.
The two reasons that it is being changed are:

1. Because they can. The technology exists. That's how Conelrad became  
EBS and EBS became EAS and now EAS becomes EAS/CAP.
2. Because too many people did not work the system the way it was  
supposed to be worked thus forcing the government to force more on us.

If you have always been a good steward of EAS then you were part of  
the solution.
All too many were not, and they are responsible, at least in part, for  
the forced changes.

I'll get off my soapbox and step aside for others to jump in and  
disagree with me or add their own, and better thoughts.
