Lets do some basic cypherin here shall we?

Lets say the average transaction to login, say hello, check messages
and hang up is about 2,000 bytes (average for an empty email box, i
would imagine this transaction would be similar).

2000 bytes per transaction
20 transactions per minute with 3 second intervals
that's 40,000 bytes a minute... not bad
2.4Mb an hour, still not horrible
57.6Mb a day... ut oh.
1.72Gb a month. Whoops.

2Gb in just empty messages right there.
