One the one hand you can treat an EAS pre-announcement, of the types
described in this thread, as a PSA.
PSA's usually only run in a space where a commercial, or underwriting
announcement hasn't been sold.
If your spot time is all booked up you don't want to drop a spot to
run the announcement, if not, no big deal.
When asked by my station about this I advise:
The pre-announcement is not required.
The pre-announcement takes as long if not longer than the actual
length of an RWT.
This is a programming choice and not a function of engineering.
As long as the RWT is done properly, the rest is up to programming.
As far as forgetting what the "BRAPPPS" are for, its like I used to
tell my Dad.
In his advanced years, he would complain that he didn't understand
this commercial or that commercial and would get a bit upset about it.
I'd just tell him... "Dad, if you don't get the commercial, then
whatever they are selling is probably nothing you'd be interested in
anyway."
