[EAS] The Alaskan EAN

I have a question about the EAN message. My concern right now is that an EAN test or real event happens and I will never know. Is the EAS box suppose to take over and stay latched on till the EAT is hear? Also is there an audio feed send after the EAN from the originating station? We are non-participating and we are prepared to play the message and shutoff but my concern is the EAN will come and we will go back to normal audio just like a monthly test. I have no way to get an alert when one happens so I can come in and shutdown our network. BTW: we have a TFT 911(RBN/WPCS) and a Trilithic (KPCS)

Now that you explain the PEP and station EAS device, that makes sense that the station's EAS device would hear another EAN, etc...

The reason you heard two EOMs is that there is a sperate PEP EAS device
installed at PEP stations idownstream of, and in addition to, the
station's EAS device.  The second EOM was generated by the station EAS
device which "heard" the EAN message as relayed through another
monitored EAS participant.

Several comments were filed with the Commission regarding the disconnect
between how EAS devices actually work upon receipt of an EAN and the
proceedures set forth in the FCC EAS Handbook.  You are correct, the
real-world doesn't, and perhaps cannot, work in the same fashion as the
Handbook suggests. Perhaps this will be resolved in future updates.
