We have noticed that we have several new subscribers sign up in the past couple of weeks.

Welcome!

We have a lot of EAS reference information archived on the EAS Forum website - along with all the email traffic that has been on the Forum since it started. [ http://eas.radiolists.net/ ]

Right now we are all waiting to hear what the FCC is going to do about the call from a flock of state broadcaster associations, their national group, the NAB, and the Broadcast Warning Working Group (BWWG) that sponsors the EAS Forum to postpone the pending September 30 compliance date to accept CAP messages from the Federal aggregator.

There are two sides to this issue. Some EAS stakeholders, including some equipment vendors, feel the September 30 date should hold.

A much larger shoe we are waiting for to drop is what the Commission is going to come up with after mulling over the Comments and Reply Comments on the Part 11 rewrite that were filed.

If you have not read any of what was filed on the Part 11 rewrite Further Notice by the BWWG or others, the EAS Forum website has a link to the FCC's Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) where you can download PDF copies of everything that was filed.

If you are a new subscriber and have any questions, please do not be shy. We are all interested in improving public warnings, and we all have something to contribute either by asking questions that need to be asked or by offering feedback when questions are asked.

Regards,

Richard Rudman
CA SECC Vice Chair
(For the BWWG)
