[BC] How would you build it?

My favorite 1 KW AM Transmitter was, and probably always will be, the Raytheon RA-1000. Worked on a bunch of these early in my career. Built solid as a brick outhouse, fully metered, plenty of drive to the finals for both the RF and audio sides, and you could load them into just about anything with that "variometer" output coupling assembly. If you needed to work on it, which was rare, you could literally walk into the back of it.
Worst AM 1 KW rig, IMO, was the Gates BC-1G. I called it the "Gutless Wonder". No Guts, and a Wonder it worked. Even with the iron in the transmitter, you could push it over with your hands.
